The Archaeological Review from Cambridge has published a fascinating volume on Archaeology and Cultural Mixture. You can find the table of contents on http://www.societies.cam.ac.uk/arc/current.html Most of the contributions are not medieval, but Convivencia in a Borderland: The Danish-Slavic Border in the Middle Ages by Magdalena Naum drew my attention.
